Custom Telestrat... stratotele... Amalgacaster!! 56K Beware!!

Bought it off ebay with the red finish, stripped it down, stained it using cherry/red mahogany stain, then covered it with white primer. After the primer was sanded down I covered it with just one coat of Storm Grey Metallic Automotive paint. I then used a combination of sandpaper, Scotchbrite pads, and razorblades to achieve the desired effect on the body.

I put a Strat neck maple/rosewood on there, but haven't had a chance to get new pics yet. I'm also trying to get the 60 bucks I need to have it professionally rewired with all new insides. Anybody want to donate? I accept Paypal. afro

Turns out the pot was ok.

DJ, How many hours do you estimate that you will spend on this mod from start to finish? Have you done one of these before? It really looks labour intensive.

hey younggun, I probably spent nearly 15 hours on it so far.

Not too bad as I didn't actually build any of the parts myself.

I just need to get the hardware relic'd and get her re-wired and she's ready to go!

So DJ, Do you figure 30-50 hours for such a Mod would be a fair estimate? I was talking to Dozer about buying a squier to try to experiment with so maybe I can pick both of your brains on the process. Very Happy

Yep, sounds about right, but be ready for loooots of blisters. The scotch-brite pads work the best for getting the worn look without the cuts and scratches, IMO.

Just bang on the body with your keys a bit. Take like a flat head screwdriver like you were going to adjust the intonation and purposfully slip off, you know, to give it that "I remember when that happened, I was doing a setup.. awe man." kinda vibe.

Just hold your guitar and where your body touches, take finish off. That's what I did.
