| I've been tinkering with guitars since around 1974. Most were minor rewiring jobs. When I finally tackled my first kit, all I kept was the wood. I wanted a suped-up Telecaster. I wanted it to sound like a Tele - but it also had to sound like a Strat and a Les Paul. I decided it would need a P-90 (neck), Strat (middle) and a Humbucker in the neck. I also added some separate circuits for various tones not normally found in any of these stock guitars. Since it was assembled from all different guitars, I had come to call it The Frankencaster. That's when I got the idea to do a face on the body in wood stain. I sent a photo of it to Sara Karloff and she called it "A wonderful tribute to my father". Have a look...

| My most recent project was a pair of "neo-vintage" Strats. The 1962 Sea Foam green has a set of Kennedy era Fender pick-ups. I modified the volume pot with a pull-up switch that activates the bridge pick-up making it a 7-way. The Old Candy Apple red is a 1963. I gave this one a set of Holy Grail 1954 pick-ups - and they sound fantastic. It also has 7-way wiring. Both guitars have 1957 "soft V" Fender necks and aged accessories. Both turned out great but for some reason, the Sea Foam green is the one I grab most.

| I'm having trouble inserting pictures. I'll work on it. In the meantime, I've fixed the seafoam link. | |
